TOY INDUSTRY SALES IN BRITAIN EXPERIENCE 5 PER CENT INCREASE
London: 17th Dec 2015: Latest figures from The NPD Group Inc, a global information company, show that year-to-date (Jan. to 6th December) toy industry sales in Britain have increased 4.8 per cent versus the same time period last year. The categories showing the most growth include Action Figures & Accessories (19 per cent), plush (13 per cent), and Building Sets (12 per cent). The remaining eight categories showed modest single-digit increases (six categories) and declines (two categories).
Frédérique Tutt,Global Toy Industry Analyst with The NPD Group,says: ‘’2015 has been a strong year for the British toy market to date and the NPD group expects the year to finish up 5% after a similar increase in 2014. Branded and licensed toys with traditional play patterns have been the key drivers behind the market performance, with collectible toys topping the charts.”
Although U.K. consumer shopping behaviours have changed because of the COVID-19 crisis, there are clear indicators that consumers are willing to return to stores and restaurants under the right circumstances.
